DUTY TARIFFS
Duty tariffs are added to your order at checkout. We pay these tariff charges to our courier. The courier pre-clears the parcel into the United States and pays the tariffs to the US border control. You won't then need to pay tariffs when you receive the parcel. The payment at checkout is the full cost to purchase and receive the goods, including shipping fees and tariffs.
The tariffs you pay depend on the original country of manufacture for the products. You can see the country of manufacture on every product page, which allows you to plan to avoid or reduce tariffs. Please see the 'Product Data' section on each product page.
Tariff rates for the countries where our products are manufactured are constantly changing, but as of 29th August 2025, they are:
- Australia: 10%
- Colombia: 10%
- UK: the Section 301 standard tariff rate, plus 10%
- EU: a minimum 15% or the standard Section 301 tariff rate if this is higher
- Thailand: the Section 301 standard tariff rate, plus 19%
- Bangladesh: the Section 301 standard tariff rate, plus 20%
- China: the Section 301 standard tariff rate, plus 37.5%
- India: the Section 301 standard tariff rate, plus 50%
Section 301 standard tariff rates are currently:
- Underwear: cotton (7.4%), synthetic (14.9%), other (5.6%)
- Swimwear: 25.9%
- Pants & shorts: cotton (16.1%), synthetic (28.2%)
- T-shirts, Polos, Tanks & Sweaters: cotton (16.5%), synthetic (32%)
- Shirts: cotton (19.7%), synthetic (32%)
- Harnesses & suspenders: 6.6%
- Arm, wrist & bicep bands: 14.6%
- Socks: 13.5%
- Clothing with a coating (eg faux leather, leatherette): 7.1%
- Jumpers: cotton (10.8%), synthetic (14.9%)
- Other tops (eg harness tanks): cotton (10.8%), synthetic (28.2%)
Our recommendations for US customers to reduce tairrff liabilities are:
1) Focus on products made in Australia (aussieBum) and Colombia (PUMP!), where there are free trade agreements that cap the total tariff bill at 10%
2) Focus on cotton rather than synthetic materials, as tariff rates are lower
VOCLA pays all clearance fees charged by our couriers.
If you return items, the tariffs charged on those returns cannot be refunded. Tariffs are personal tax charges, not tax charges on VOCLA, and they will have been paid to the courier who has paid them to the US government. Therefore, you need to apply for a refund from your local US tax office and provide evidence of the original purchase and the return (for example, proof of original payment, your VOCLA invoice, the refund confirmation e-mail from VOCLA, and your proof of postage for the returned items). VOCLA can help you provide any necessary documents that we hold. Please just ask, we've done this for years for our EU customers and are willing to help.
TIMESCALES
For Royal Mail/USPS services, orders placed before 3pm GMT are dispatched on the same day. Parcels are passed to US Customs and Border Protection upon entry into the USA. Customs clearance timescales are not guaranteed, and the estimated delivery times do not include customs delays. It usually takes a few days to clear a parcel. Once cleared, it is passed to USPS. They usually provide an estimated delivery date on their website tracking.
For FedEx services, orders placed before 11am GMT are dispatched on the same day. FedEx clears parcels using their own customs import process, which is faster, usually one day, but they still have the right to inspect and delay parcels. FedEx will deliver the parcel; it is not passed to another courier or local postal service.
ORDERS OVER 2KG
Royal Mail services only allow parcels up to 2kg in weight. If your order exceeds this, we will split the order into two parcels.
TRACKING
You will receive an email confirmation with tracking details. Please check your junk mail folder if you have not received this. While Customs and Border Protection has the parcel, the tracking will not show information. This is perfectly normal; it does not mean the parcel is lost. When Customs clear the parcel and passes it to USPS, tracking will start on their website. We cannot contact Customs Authorities while they are processing parcels.
Parcels are not considered lost until 20 working days after dispatch. This provides US Customs and Border Protection enough time to process delayed parcels.
