TOP MEN'S FASHION TRENDS FOR SUMMER

We’ve just launched our summer season menswear range at VOCLA. Here we look at the different summer men’s fashion trends evident in the summer fashion season. This summer we have trends in knitted mesh, crochet and lace fabrics. We also see prints with tropical prints and striped patterns. And our favourite styles are still super-short-leg shorts and sleeveless tanks.

The three main trends that we see are:

TREND 1: PRINTS AND PATTERNS

Prints and patterns are back: cool prints, graphics and printed menswear. This year we see a great selection of prints: abstract, geometric, florals, stripes, animal, dots, chequered.

TREND 2: LIGHTWEIGHT KNITS IN MESH, CROCHET AND LACE

Knitted cotton has been trendy over the last few years. This year, we are seeing this trend expand to incorporate a range of prints into knits, such as jacquard prints or striped patterns. This is achieved with lightweight cotton knits, mesh, crochet and lace materials.

TREND 3: SHORT SHORTS

Short shorts, also known as super-short-legged shorts or 'booty shorts' are still popular. These mini beauties are usually packed with features like stretch material to show off your booty, pockets, belt loops and fly. They are versatile garments, suitable for a walk to the beach and smart enough for sitting outside a café for an alfresco lunch.

LINEN & LIGHTWEIGHT KNITS

Linen and lightweight knits are great materials for summer. They're breathable, helping to keep you cool. We've seen a steady trend in lightweight knits over the last couple of years.

MESH & CROCHET FABRICS

Mesh has often been used in sportswear styles, but now we see a carryover into everyday garments, with the help of crochet and lace techniques to create a detailed pattern within the mesh.

Mesh is a great option for summer because it's breathable, helping to keep you cool and wick away moisture. But it's got a semi-transparent characteristic, which shows off that summer body or that tan you've achieved.

In this example, we've selected the CODE22 Openwork Jacquard collection. We particularly like the Openwork polo shirt, which combines a crochet jacquard print in the mesh, with striped piping and solid panels.

Shorts with super-short legs or 'short shorts' are the big trend. These booty shorts have very short inseams around 2 to 4".

STRIPES

Historically, we've referred to stripes as a print, with the stripes being printed onto the garment. But we now see stripes being incorporated into the knit, or the crochet technqiue, for more subtle striped pattern.

This CODE22 knitted mesh polo is a striped knitted crochet. It takes the lightweight knit trends and applies a striped pattern within the knit.

Stripes are always popular to add a pattern or some colour to your summer wardrobe. They can be subtle or bold. Marine-themed stripes are a good option for a seaside location and swimwear. B
