They may be male styles, but they are not always that masculine and are certainly one of the most daring of men’s underwear styles.

Men’s strings are an underwear thong silhouette, sexy and with a full front cover. Although the level of pouch cover can vary. Strings are similar in that they are a completely backless design. But where a thong may have a waistband, a string won’t. And where a thong usually has a thin piece of soft material running between the waistband piece and pouch, a male string just has…well… a piece of string.

There are various terms used to describe men’s strings: G-String, T-String, C-String, V-String. They are all very similar. But a ‘T’ refers to the shape of the strings at the rear ie a string waist and string running from the centre of this waist, under the body to the front. A G-string has a tiny triangular piece at the rear waist, like a thong, but still attached to the front via a string running under the body. A V-string is the same but generally a slightly larger triangular piece. And a C-string has no string at all. Which begs the question, why is it even referred to as a string?
